Read and sign the petition supporting the bill proposed by PSD for capping the electricity and gas prices.
PSD submitted to the Parliament a bill of law stipulating a cap for the electricity and gas prices to the average of the last 6 months and subsidizing 50% of the prices increase that resulted in the general population invoices.
The cap is defined according to the average of prices for the March-September 2021 period.
This involves a decrease in the prices to a value that must be maintained over the entire 6-month cap period. After the entry into force of the law, all contracts must be restructured so that the maximum capped price cannot be exceeded.
PSD also proposes a compensation for the consumers in order to cover some of the price increase that has already taken place.
The law also provides a compensation for the prices increase already paid by the consumer before the entry into force of the law.
The compensation is to be offered to those consumers who had their gas and electricity price increased during the past 6 months before the entry into force of the law. The compensation represents half of the price increase that operated during these 6 months, meaning half of the gap between the price paid during the last month and the one paid during the first month.
The law proposed by PSD allows for the living standards of Romanians to be preserved over the next 6 months
Based on the PSD project, the prices included in the electricity invoices shall be reduced immediately by 43% depending on the contract concluded by each consumer.
The discount amounts to 23% for gas, depending on the contracts concluded by each individual consumer.
The PSD project protects most of household consumers from an imminent situation of doubling the costs with utilities – electricity and gas invoices. These new doubled amounts included in these invoices would translate into an additional cost of 5676 RON per year, approximatively 1200 EUR for each household with employees in Romania.
