PSD PRESIDENT MARCEL CIOLACU WELCOMES U.S. AMBASSADOR KATHLEEN KAVALEC TO BUCHAREST

PSD President Ciolacu welcomed U.S. Ambassador Kathleen Kavalec to her new posting in Bucharest at a vital time in US-Romanian relations. The two have established positive communications on strengthening the U.S.-Romania bilateral relationship, ensure smooth effective communication with the Embassy throughout the upcoming government transition, and share Romanian and PSD priorities in Romania. “I look forward to working together to support Ukraine, the security of the Black Sea Region, the growth of bilateral trade and investment, the promotion of energy independence and the strengthening of the rule of law,” Kavalec reported on Twitter following the meeting.

As Prime Minister, Mr. Ciolacu will seek to use his time to deepen U.S.-Romania cooperation with a focus on economic and security ties. He believes an even stronger U.S.-Romania relationship will enhance   Romania strategic role in maintaining regional stability Ambassador Kavalec is a welcome addition to the diplomatic community in Bucharest, where she and her family has spent significant time in the past. She has been nominated to senior diplomatic roles under both Republican and Democrat Administrations, and previously served as the deputy assistant secretary in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.
