“Romania is part of the future strategy of the United States of America for the Black Sea! I applaud the decision by the US Congress to include Strategy in the Omnibus Bill for 2023, a law that provides for the U.S. government’s budgetary spending,” PSD President Marcel Ciolacu wrote in a Facebook post applauding the passage of an omnibus spending bill that directs the State Department to submit a strategy for working with Black Sea nations, signaling U.S. readiness to deepen U.S. partnerships in our region.
PSD thanks Senators Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) and Mitt Romney (R-UT), who have been leading the charge to further develop relations between the U.S. and the Black Sea Region, and President Biden for signing this important provision into law. PSD Senators Robert Cazanciuc and Radu Oprea traveled to Washington, DC in December to discuss Romania’s role in the region with leaders in Congress and the Administration. During their meetings, they expressed PSD’s strong support for Black Sea security legislation and urged their counterparts on Capitol Hill to act swiftly to support the region.
