PSD President, Marcel Ciolacu, president of the Chamber of Deputies, met with the Congressional delegation led by Kevin McCarthy, Republican Minority Leader in the U.S. House of Representatives, on Monday, April 11, 2022.

“This visit is an important signal of support for Romania and demonstrates once again the impeccable transatlantic unity in the face of Russian aggression. In this context, we discussed supporting a unified advanced NATO presence on the eastern flank. We must focus all our attention and resources on collective defense, and it is crucial to have a coherent and long-term defense from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea.”

Ciolacu also reiterated Romania’s intensions to be involved in the reconstruction of Ukraine.

“At the same time, I emphasized Romania’s intention to get involved in the reconstruction of Ukraine after the war. It is a natural duty for a state that proves to be a good neighbor, as well as a huge economic opportunity for Romanian companies. In this project financed on the EU-USA axis, Romania must decisively assume the role of regional leader.”
