Marcel Ciolacu in Ukraine: Romania can be a hub of stability and security

April 26, 2022

PSD President Marcel Ciolacu, the President of the Chamber of Deputies visited the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv, on Tuesday, April 26, 2022. Ciolacu told Ukrainian officials that Romania wants to be the main hub of stability and security in the region, and the ports of Constanta and Galati must be the main strategic points of connection between the two countries.

“On the third day of Easter, I was in Ukraine to express my solidarity with a people, of which many ethnic Romanians are also a part, a people that has been tried hard, that has not known peace even on the occasion of the most important holiday of Christianity. Moreover, I went to see, in Irpin and Borodianka, the destruction committed by the Russian army. During the discussions with Ukrainian officials, we conveyed two major messages: Romania wants to be the main hub of stability and security in the region and, thus, to be actively involved in the reconstruction process of Ukraine, after the war, both at the governmental level and with Romanian companies. Moreover, the ports of Constanta and Galati must be the main strategic points of connection between the two countries, between Ukraine and Europe, but also with the rest of the world.”
