Marcel Ciolacu met this week with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to discuss strengthening NATO’s presence on the Eastern Flank.
“Constructive meeting with NATO Secretary General, Mr. Jens Stoltenberg, on the sidelines of the high-level meeting of the Alliance hosted by the Romanian Parliament. NATO has proven to be a constant supporter of democracy in Romania, for over 30 years. At the same time, the 2.5% GDP allocation for defense confirms for a fact that we stand as a staunch ally. From my vantage point, I am engaged to cover all bases to maintain the consensus for this Euro-Atlantic commitment.
I am convinced that the decisions taken these days will exhibit the unity of the Allies and will reflect, once again, the bold transatlantic relationship. During today’s meeting, I also stressed upon the contribution of our country to the security and stability of the Black Sea region. We have a common vision regarding the need to fully implement the Madrid Summit decisions, especially strengthening the defense posture on the Eastern Flank. Romania enjoys all the security guarantees that NATO offers, and this is the result of the constant efforts over the last 30 years”, wrote Marcel Ciolacu on Facebook.
