PSD Defense Minister Angel Tîlvăr recently met with Moldovan President Maia Sandu and Prime Minister Dorin Recean during his official visit to the country, in a sign of Romania’s continued support. Romania and PSD are committed to protecting the stability and security of Moldova against Russia’s attempts at de-stabilization and hybrid warfare.
During the meeting with President Sandu, Minister Tîlvăr highlighted Romania-Moldova bilateral defense ties and joint military training exercises. The Defense Minister reiterated Romania’s full support for the Moldovan candidacy for European Union membership and further emphasized that Romania is committed to maintaining open lines of communication and direct dialogue to strengthen collaboration.
Prior to the visit, Minister Tîlvăr co-chaired the Bucharest Nine Defense Ministers Meeting in Warsaw together with his Polish counterpart, Mariusz Błaszczak. The meeting was also attended by the Secretary of State for Defense of the Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Ben Wallace, and the Assistant Secretary-General for Operations, Thomas Goffus. Officials discussed ongoing security challenges posed by the Ukraine war, the continued international support for Ukraine, defense positioning on the Eastern flank, and the upcoming Vilnius Summit.
