U.S. 101st Airborne Deployment with Romanian Military Seen as a Model for Allied Security Efforts

A recent New York Times article highlighted the significant contributions made by Romania in the global effort to defend Ukraine and protect other European nations from Russian encroachment. The deployment of the U.S. 101st Airborne Division to Romania is the first time since World War II that the famed division has been present in Europe. The troops have worked in partnership with Romanian military units to engage in training exercises at critical Black Sea port locations, including testing the HIMARS rocket system.

While the ongoing presence of the joint forces has been focused on supporting Ukraine, Congressman Seth Moulton (D-MA) told the New York Times that the effort has great potential for informing security strategy in Taiwan as well.
